I recently launched a new website called Gillette Wyoming Guide (www.gillettewyomingguide.com).  Its purpose is to serve as a one-stop information source for residents of Gillette, Wyoming and the surrounding area.  It features local news, weather, articles, classifieds, events and a business directory.  Plus, anyone can contribute content!  So if there’s a local topic you are passionate about, feel free to submit an article.  The more people contribute, the more useful the site will be to the community.  Planning a local event?  Help publicize it on Gillette Wyoming Guide.

If you have friends or family in the Gillette area that you think may also be interested in this site, please pass this along.  Or if you represent a Gillette business, add your listing to the business directory for free advertising.

Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., spoke against the one trillion dollar spending package that the House passed Friday and the Senate was expected to pass Friday night.
Enzi said a bad bill was made even worse when House and Senate leaders stripped out the one measure that would actually have done some good for the U.S. economy by helping struggling home owners.

How to spend a trillion dollars?

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Heres one for you! If you wanted to stimulate the economy this is what you could really do with $870,000,000,000:

Based on price when new you could build 19,045 Empire State Buildings.

Why not just give 15.6 Billion dollars to each State? “It’s my money and I want it now! It’s my money and I want it now!”

If you gave every state 15.6 million dollars ever person in South Dakota would get $22,000

You could give $7800 to every house hold in the US

You could pay off 90% of the home mortgages in the US

You could build over 7 million $110,000 homes

Why would you fix current roads when nobody will be driving on them in 3 years?.

You could send every business with 1-4 employees (2,777,680 SB in US) $282,000 (Where’s our Bailout?) Thinks about it, this group is probably the most fruggle and conciensious people in the US and would probably provide 1 million new jobs instantly and return almost 100% of the money back to the economy almost instantly and would probably pay back the original amount in 1 year or less…

Fast Facts on a Trillion Dollars
If you had gone into business on the day Jesus was born, and your business lost a million dollars a day, 365 days a year, it would take you until October 2737 to lose $1 trillion.

If you spent $1 million a day, every day since Jesus was born, you would still be only slightly more that three-quarters of the way to spending $1 trillion.

One trillion dollars divided by 300 million Americans comes out to $3,333 per person.

If someone were to build city blocks that contained 10 homes valued at $100,000 per home, you would end up with ten houses to a block, ten blocks to a mile and a hundred blocks per square mile. It would take 10,000 square miles to reach $1 trillion in value. This would be more than the size of six U.S. states: Vermont, 9,615 square miles; New Hampshire, 9,351 square miles; New Jersey, 8,722 square miles; Connecticut, 5,544 square miles; Delaware, 1,954 square miles; and Rhode Island, 1,545 square miles.

One trillion one-dollar bills stacked one on top of the other would reach nearly 68,000 miles into the sky, about a third of the way from the Earth to the moon.

Earth’s home galaxy, the Milky Way, is estimated to contain about 200 billion stars. So, if each star cost one dollar, one trillion dollars would buy five Milky Way galaxies full of stars.

One trillion seconds of ordinary clock time equals 31,546 years. So, spending money at the rate of one dollar every second, or $86,400 every day, would still take nearly 32,000 years to spend $1 trillion.

You can take a Stimulus Dollar and set it end to end and go to the moon and back 309.23 Times! Statistic by Scott Prentice.

HOW MUCH IS A BILLION DOLLARS?

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

cash.jpgHere is a more practical way of looking at it.

By We The People, Citizens for Change

HOW MUCH IS A BILLION DOLLARS?

While I take exception to the inference that the world has actually even been here as long as this implies…. it really is an eye opener! This makes us see what’s going on….This is too true to be very funny. The next time you hear a politician use the word ‘billion’ in a casual manner, think about whether you want the ‘politicians’ spending YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.

A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let’s take a look at New Orleans It’s amazing what you can learn with some simple division Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for $250 BILLION DOLLARS to rebuild New Orleans. Interesting number, what does it mean?

A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you each get $516,528.
B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans, your home gets $1,329,787.
C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,066,012.

Washington, D.C. HELLO!!! … Are all your calculators broken??

An now our new President is signing a stimulus check that will spend 780 Billion Dollars to create jobs. If you took that 780 Billion dollars and gave it to each of the 4 million jobs it is suppose to create you could give each new employee $195,000.

If you gave every state the same amount each state could receive $15.6 Billion Dollars. If South Dakota received it’s check and dispersed it to each individual every South Dakota resident would receive:$20,666.00.

How will they pay for this?

Tax his land,
Tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.
Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes is the rule.
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.
Tax his ties,
Tax his shirts,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.
Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.
Tax his booze,
Tax his beers,
If he cries, Tax his tears.
Tax his bills,
Tax his gas,
Tax his notes,
Tax his cash.
and now tax the hell out of his guns!

Tax him good and let him know. . .that after taxes, he has no dough. If he hollers, Tax him more, Tax him until he’s good and sore.

Tax his coffin, Tax his grave, Tax the sod in which he lays. Put these words upon his tomb, ‘Taxes drove me to my doom!’ And when he’s gone, we won’t relax, we’ll still be after the inheritance TAX!!

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. What happened? Can you spell ‘politicians?’ And I still have to ‘press 1′ for English.

Town Hall Meetings

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Have you been attending Sen. Barrasso’s Town Hall Meetings?

The next time you get a mystery call inviting you to join one of these phone meetings, you should! It is most interesting to hear the views of fellow Wyomingites on several issues that are currently being decided on by the senate. Whether you choose to voice your opinion or to simply listen, it is an educating experience. The most recent Town Hall Meeting I listened in on covered such subjects as the Economic Stimulus Plan, gun right concerns, and job security questions.

Sen. Barrasso’s Web site, http://barrasso.senate.gov/public/ also includes information links and view points that you can research for yourself. No matter why you seek the information, or how you feel about the information that is shared, it is wonderful to know that Wyoming has resources such as these available to their citizens.
